I produced this film with director Andy Brooking, in collaboration with 7 individuals who had sought safety in the UK. In 2016, the UK celebrated 65 years of being signatories to the UN Convention on Refugees, however, under the political climate of the time, there was a threat it would withdraw. We produced this film to celebrate the incredible individuals to whom Britain has provided protection under the convention.
Since 1951 the British Refugee Council has worked directly with thousands of refugees and asylum seekers every year, supporting them from the moment they arrive in the UK. The Refugee Council provide advice and support with finding a place to live, with work and training, specialised services for children who arrive in the UK alone, and mental health services to address the trauma that so many have experienced.
